SCHOLARSHIP

 The Dr. Ida L. Johnson Spruill Scholarship was conceived by one of our beloved founding members.  Ida L. Johnson Spruill, PhD, RN, LISW, FAAN was a distinguished researcher and proponent of scholarship.  Dr. Spruill received the 2013 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).  Moreover, Dr. Spruill is remembered for her research interests and commitment to management of chronic diseases, particularly obesity and Type 2 Diabetes among Sea Islanders and other vulnerable populations in South Carolina.  Although Dr. Spruill made her transition in 2016, her scholarship like her legacy will continue
